Bruno lived quite a long time by himself and appeared quite content despite being a social creature. As time went on his fur began turning grey and he started slowing down. One morning he was curled up in a corner of the cage. He was cold to the touch. I put him in the front garden near Fang.
Blackie didn’t appear to be in any stress throughout his lifetime so finding him ‘asleep’ inside his house on the morning of a trip out of town was sad. I wrapped him in tissues and then slipped him inside a plastic bag so I could keep him in the freezer until we returned home and I could put him in the front garden.
With Blackie gone, I didn’t want to get another rodent. I was ready for another cat.
